Popular relocations
Airing cupboard → loft: opens up the cupboard, hides the boiler completely, good for terraces across Kingston and Twickenham. Kitchen → utility / garage: quieter kitchen, more counter space. Utility → loft: often done alongside kitchen renovations.
Cost ranges
Short move (same room / adjacent cupboard): £400–£700 on top of the boiler swap cost. Loft or garage move requiring long pipe runs and a new flue: £900–£1,800 additional. Full survey required — every property differs.
Rules and regulations
Gas Safe registered engineer mandatory. New flue routing must meet Building Regulations Part J. Any horizontal or vertical flue extension needs the right terminal clearances. All work is notified via the Gas Safe scheme — no separate building control call needed.
Timeline
Survey and quote: 1 hour on site. Installation with move: 1.5–3 days depending on pipe runs. We use dust sheets, capping and floor protection throughout — standard on every KT/TW job.

Can I move a boiler to a loft?
Yes, provided the loft has a permanent boarded access route, a light, a permanent ladder and a solid platform for the boiler. All are typically installed as part of the job.
Do I need a magnetic filter when moving a boiler?
Always recommended, and manufacturer warranties usually require one. It protects the new boiler from sludge in the existing radiator circuit.
