Why service annually?
Every major manufacturer (Worcester Bosch, Vaillant, Ideal, Baxi, Viessmann) requires annual servicing to keep the 5–12 year warranty valid. Skipping a year can void the warranty even if the boiler is only 3 years old.
When to book
Spring to early autumn (April–September) is ideal. Engineers have more availability, prices are more stable, and any faults are caught before the winter heating season starts. Booking in December risks a longer wait — we prioritise no-heat callouts.
What's included in a proper service
Visual inspection of casing, seals, flue and pipework. Calibrated flue gas analysis for combustion efficiency and CO. Gas inlet and burner pressure checks. Safety device testing (overheat, PRV, flame supervision). Controls, thermostat and TRV checks. System pressure and expansion vessel checks. Written service record for warranty and landlord files.
